Sony LinkBuds Truly Wireless Earphones Have A Weird Design: Features, Specifications

While wearing earphones, some users prefer outside noises to filter in while running, jogging, walking in the park, or cycling. The new Sony LinkBuds TWS earphones are built specifically to attract such customers. These come with an Open Ring Design that enables users to hear sounds from their surroundings while enjoying music. The Sony LinkBuds TWS earbuds also feature DSEE, spatial audio support, Bluetooth v5.2, splash resistance, and Google Assistant support, among other features.

The Sony LinkBuds TWS earbuds sport 12mm open ring drivers. The TWS earphones produce high-quality output thanks to the Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE). Don’t expect any form of noise cancellation from the earphones, as they are supposed to pass the ambient noises to the user. The Sony Linkbuds are powered by Sony’s V1 Integrated processor. The earbuds get a Wide Area Tap feature, which allows the user to control the play, pause, next track function just by tapping in front of their ears. It senses the touch on the skin of your ear to perform the function. Sony has equipped the Link Buds with a Speak-to-Chat feature, which automatically pauses the music once the user starts talking. Furthermore, they get automatic volume control, which adapts the volume based on the user’s surroundings. 

The earbuds come with Bluetooth v5.2 support SBC and AAC audio formats. Sony’s 360-degrees Reality Audio offers a spatial surround sound experience. The LinkBuds feature Google’s Fast Pair to pair with Android devices quickly. The Swift Pair feature enables them to connect with Windows PCs, laptops, and tablets. Sony LinkBuds also come with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri support. 

The TWS earphones promise to deliver a total playback of 5.5 hours on a single charge. The charging case provides a combined backup of 17.5 hours. According to Sony, a quick 10-minute charging via the USB-C port will deliver up to 90 minutes of music playback. 

Sony LinkBuds Earphone: Price, Availability

The Sony LinkBuds TWS earphones come with a price tag of $179.99 (approx. ₹13,440). They are available for purchase via Sony’s website, Amazon, and other authorised retailers in the US. They come in grey and white colourways. Sony hasn’t revealed any plans to bring these earbuds to India.
