The major highlight of this update is the ‘Video Caller ID’ feature. You can record a short video or select one from the preloaded templates. Your video will be saved on Truecaller’s cloud network and will allow you to view the Video Caller ID of contacts saved on your phone. To manage the Video Caller ID and other related functions, head on to the settings of the app and select ‘Caller ID’. Here you can toggle between On or Off at your convenience.
Call Recording
Truecaller has finally introduced the call recording feature for free accounts, which was previously available only for the paid version. It will allow you to record incoming and outgoing calls if your device is running on Android version 5.1 and above. The callers will not be notified if you are recording the call. The recorded files will be stored locally on the device storage and will be easily transferrable.
Ghost Call and Call Announce
Truecaller Premium and Gold subscribers will receive some nifty features such as Ghost Call and Call Announce. Ghost call will let you schedule a call simulation on your phone, which will come in handy when you want to get out of sticky situations. It lets you make the call appear more authentic by allowing you to select a number, name, or an image to be displayed for the call. You can also select a saved contact to be displayed when you get the call.
Call Announce will read out the caller ID of your saved contacts or from the Truecaller’s database. This feature will also be available while using earphones.
“All these new features will allow people to enjoy and exercise greater control over their communication, offering a safe, fun and fulfilling experience at the same time. We worked hard to add many new features and a streamlined interface without adding complexity. At the same time, the app is faster and leaner, allowing for smoother operation and reduced battery consumption”, said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer and Managing Director, Truecaller India.
