The highly anticipated Vivo X Fold smartphone has finally landed in China. The Vivo X is a premium foldable smartphone that is considered to be a true challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. Owing to multiple leaks, some of its specifications were already out in the open.
Let’s have a look at what makes this foldable device by Vivo stand out in the market.
Vivo X Fold: Features, Specifications
The Vivo X Fold flaunts a large cover screen and a tablet-like inner display. The cover screen is a 6.53-inch AMOLED display and the inner display is a folding 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED E5 display, with an adaptive refresh rate. Both the screens come with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ support.
Vivo says it has used an aircraft-grade floating wing hinge, which allows the Vivo X Fold to close flat. It can stay open at an angle between 60 and 120 degrees. The inner screen is claimed to stay crease-free during its lifetime. Also, the transition between the outer screen and inner screen will be seamless with no colour differences. The display’s used in the handset are A+ certified by Display Mate. The inner folding display is protected by an ultra-thin glass by SCHOTT. Vivo has also thrown in ultra-sonic in-display fingerprint sensors for both the outer as well as inner screens.
The Vivo X Fold is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with an older Snapdragon 888 processor. The Vivo X Fold is equipped with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In terms of imaging, it is loaded with a Samsung GN5 50MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. There’s also a 12MP zoom camera with f/2.4 aperture, a 48MP Sony IMX598 ultra-wide snapper with OIS and f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP periscope shooter with 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom capabilities. The cameras get Zeiss branding and multiple shooting modes. That’s not all, it gets one selfie camera each on both the outer and inner screens.
The Vivo X Fold is powered by a 4,600mAh battery under its hood with 66-watt wired charging, which promises to top it up in under 37 minutes. You can also charge it wirelessly at up to 50-watt, and also gets a reverse charging feature.
Vivo X Fold: Price, Availability
The Vivo X Fold is priced at CNY 8,999 (approx. ₹1,07,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB variant comes with a price tag of CNY 9,999 (approx. ₹1,19,100). The smartphone will be exclusive to China but expect it to land in India in the future. It is available in black, blue, and grey colourways.
