Vivo had launched the Vivo X Fold, the company’s first-ever foldable device, earlier this year in April. Not long after that, it was speculated that the X Fold’s successor, the Vivo X Fold+, is in the works and is set to arrive later this year. Just last week, the foldable was spotted on China’s TENAA certification site. Now, Jia Jingdong, Vice President of Vivo and General Manager of Brand and Product Strategy, has laid the rumours to rest, sharing key specs of the upcoming Vivo X Fold+. He also teased the design of the foldable, revealing a variant in red.

As for the screen, both the outer and inner displays of the Vivo X Fold+ will have a refresh rate of 120Hz. Jingdong claims that the display has 19 DisplayMate A+ certifications. The foldable screen can be bent at various angles, such as 30 degrees, 90 degrees, and 120 degrees.
Additionally, both the outer and inner displays feature an integrated ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, just like its predecessor. And that’s not where the similarity ends. It is rumoured that the outer display of the X Fold+ will sport a 6.53-inch AMOLED screen, just like the X Fold. Moreover, it is said to inherit the same 8.03-inch inner foldable LTPO AMOLED display of the Vivo X Fold.
Jingdong adds that the Vivo X Fold Plus will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. The foldable will draw power from a 4,730mAh battery, which will support 80W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging. To compare, that’s an incremental improvement over its predecessor, which came with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 4,600mAh battery, and support for 66W charging.
Although the Vivo Vice President did not share the camera specs of the upcoming Vivo X Fold+, it is speculated to inherit its predecessor’s camera configuration. To recall, the Vivo X Fold sports a 50MP primary camera at the back. It also has a 48MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom. The foldable comes with a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
