54 Mobile Apps Banned In India: Here’s The Full List

In a surprising turn of events, the government of India has banned as many as 54 apps in the country, which supposedly have their roots in China. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) issued the order under Section 69a of the Information Technology Act, 2000. However, this is not the first time the government has taken such a measure, as it had previously banned 270 mobile apps back in 2020 citing security reasons. The banned apps include apps such as Dual Space, Badlanders, Wink, and even the popular Free Fire game. Let’s take a look at the 54 apps that have been banned in India.

54 More Mobile Apps Banned in India

As mentioned earlier, the list of the 54 banned apps includes Free Fire – Illuminate, Wink, AppLock, and more. The apps are said to be of Chinese origin and are banned because of privacy and security concerns, according to MEITY.

A senior official said:

Many of the apps from the stable of Tencent and Alibaba, have changed hands to hide ownership. they are also being hosted out of countries like Hong Kong or Singapore, but the data was ultimately going to servers in Chinese destinations.
