With this announcement, 5G launch in India does not seem too far, and one can expect it to happen by early 2023. Providing further details on the timeline of the 5G spectrum auction, Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman said that it will take a month for the DoT to finalise the decision after submission of recommendations by TRAI.
TRAI has indicated that they will send it (recommendations) by March. Thereafter, it will take us a month to make a decision around it.

Adding further, the Telecom Secretary said that the DoT will take two months to start the auction from the day it gets recommendations from the TRAI. MSTC has been selected as the auctioneer for the 5G auction. As reported, 5G will deliver 10 times faster download speed than 4G services currently being used. This should explain why some 4G users in the country are excited for its rollout.
