It is estimated that every year about 8 million tons of plastic waste pollutes the oceans. About half of the plastics ever manufactured have been made in the last 15 years. Millions of fishes, birds, and marine organisms get affected due to this plastic waste. To reduce these adverse effects on the environment, Acer has launched a new 15.6-inch Windows 11-based powered called Acer Aspire Vero. It is made from PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled Plastics).
The Acer Vero’s chassis and screen bezel is made from 30% (PCR) plastic, while the keycaps on the keyboard are 50% (PCR) plastic. Acer claims it can cut down on the laptop’s carbon footprint by 21%. Acer is also using 100% recyclable packaging for this laptop. The announcement comes alongside Microsoft’s launch of its new operating system Windows 11, and it is Acers first laptop to be made out of sustainable materials.
Acer Aspire Vero Specifications, Features
The Acer Aspire Vero laptop wouldn’t let you forget that it is eco-friendly, as it gets (PCR) etched on its surface. It is devoid of any paint job and carries a natural grey hue, which has a grainy textured surface. Also, ‘R’ and ‘E’ keys on the laptop’s keyboard are mirrored to evoke the environmentalist in you. Acer says Vero’s display is 99% recyclable. To make sure you don’t throw away the laptop when it starts lagging or depleting charge rapidly, it comes with an openable underside that lets you upgrade its RAM or replace its battery easily.
The Acer Aspire Vero gets a 15.6-inch IPS LCD display that can reach up to 250 nits of peak brightness and covers 65% sRGB, 48% AdobeRGB and 45% NTSC colour gamuts. It is powered by an 11th-gen Intel Core i7 2.9GHz processor and comes with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. The laptop comes equipped with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. It misses out on the USB Type-C port and gets a conventional barrel type charging connector. It also lacks a micro SD card reader and Thunderbolt 4 ports. However, you get Ethernet, two USB-A 3.2 ports, a USB-C 3.2 port, a headphone jack, and an HDMI 2.0 port.
Acer Aspire Vero Price, Availability
The eco-friendly Acer Aspire Vero comes at a starting price of $900 in the US. Acer India has listed the laptop on its website but the pricing remains unknown for now.
