Acer, in a bid to promote sustainability and work towards a greener planet, has finally launched its Aspire Vero Laptop in India. Touted as an eco-friendly laptop, its chassis is made of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic.
Acer calls the Aspire Vero laptop as its “green-pioneer” PC. It aims to address some of the environmental issues caused by the electronics industry, one of them being the heavy energy consumption of virgin plastic.
Earthy Vibes
Acer’s Aspire Vero comes with a chassis and screen bezel that uses 30% PCR plastic whereas the keycaps come with 50% PCR plastic. The laptop sports a speckled and grainy surface, strongly reminiscent of recycled paper. In keeping with the theme of environmental sustainability, the signature keys ‘R’ and ‘E’ stand out in yellow to highlight the 3Rs of recycling—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
That’s not all, it comes with 100% recyclable packaging. You can reshape part of the box to transform it into a fully functional stand. Moreover, Acer will be including a free plant with each purchase of the laptop.
Speaking on the launch of the Aspire Vero laptop, Sudhir Goel, Chief Business Officer, Acer India said:
“More than just a stylish computer the Aspire Vero is a tangible manifestation of Acer’s commitment to more sustainable operations. This is a deliberate initiative that has been designed and conceptualised to bring about a change for our future. Vero will reduce plastic waste and thereby CO2 emissions. We, at Acer are proud of this initiative and look forward to manufacturing products that promote sustainability and preserve our planet.”
Battery Management
The Aspire Vero’s inbuilt VeroSense app claims to help you take control of your laptop’s energy effectiveness and perhaps even lower your electricity bills. The app comes with four performance modes: Performance, Balanced, Eco, and Eco+.
Green Computing Machine
The 15.6-inch laptop ships with Windows 11. It is powered by the 11th-gen Intel Core i7 2.9GHz processor and is equipped with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. It packs up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. It comes with one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and one USB 2.0 port. Additionally, it comes with HDMI 2.0 with HDCP support, one 3.5 mm headphone / speaker jack, and one Ethernet (RJ-45) port.
