The collaboration also brings years of expertise in processes such as stress testing and adhering to compatibility standards to reduce development time for OEM customers. MediaTek’s Filogic 330P, which is used in the AMD RZ600, supports the latest connectivity standards of 2×2 Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz+5GHz), Wi-Fi 6E (6GHz), and Bluetooth 5.2 (with BLE). The Wi-Fi 6E standard utilises the new 6GHz spectrum at 160MHz channel bandwidth. The chipset also integrates MediaTek’s power amplifier (PA) and low noise amplifier (LNA) to help optimize power consumption. The reduced footprint enables the Filogic 330P chipset to be integrated into laptops of all sizes.
Apple is currently is working on its MR (Mixed Reality) headset with Wi-Fi 6E support. Metaverse is also working on its AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) head-mounted displays, and all of these devices are expected to feature Wi-Fi 6E. There are Wi-Fi 6E routers from ASUS, Linksys, Netgear, and others, already available in the market. It suffices to say that going forward, Wi-Fi 6E is going to be a much sought after feature for high-speed wireless devices. AMD can provide fast and reliable connectivity solutions to its users via its latest Wi-Fi 6E chipsets.
Alan Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Intelligent Connectivity at MediaTek, said, “MediaTek is already the Wi-Fi leader in a number of different segments, including smart TVs, routers and voice assistants. The new Filogic 330P chipset further broadens our connectivity portfolio as we continue to expand our footprint in the PC market. With this high throughput and ultra-low power chipset powering the next generation of AMD laptops, consumers can enjoy seamless connectivity and longer battery life while they game, stream and video chat.“
