AMD recently had its Financial Analyst Day (FAD), during which it unveiled the roadmap for its next-generation CPUs. The company’s roadmap up to 2024 states that the mobile Zen 4 core would be available in 2023 and Zen 5 for mobile on an undisclosed node will be available by the end of 2024.
The updated AMD Notebook roadmap shows two already available mobile processors, the Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 series with Vega integrated graphics and the newest Ryzen 6000 based on Zen 3+ equipped with the latest RDNA 2 mobile graphics capabilities, all of which are available now. However, there will be more rolling out from 2023.
AMD Zen 4 Laptop CPUs
In their roadmap, AMD says that the Rembrandt (Ryzen 6000) replacement will be dubbed Phoenix Point and will be built on AMD’s future Zen 4 core architecture. The chip will be manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm production node. The Zen 4 Phoenix Point mobile processors will feature AMD’s RDNA 3 integrated graphics and the Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE).
AMD Zen 5 CPUs
The same notebook roadmap also references a chip codenamed Strix Point, which is based on the company’s Zen 5 architecture and produced on an unnamed manufacturing process. Strix Point will reportedly feature AMD’s undisclosed RDNA 3+ graphics technology, which could be a tweaked RDNA 3.
Zen 5-related material also carries the mention of an Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE), which is more commonly found in mobile phones. The company might make use of an improved AI Engine, which will be available on Zen 4-based CPUs soon. Aside from that, AMD hasn’t shared much about this upcoming product.
We’ll likely learn more about AMD’s Phoenix Point based on Zen 4 in the near future, as a 2023 delivery date is predicted. Strix Point, which will use its yet-to-be-announced Zen 5 architecture, will most likely be unveiled next year.
