Along with the second-generation AirPods Pro, Apple also released the third-generation AirPods with a Lightning charging case that does not support MagSafe wireless charging. In contrast to the wireless charging possibilities offered on the older generation model, this version of the case can only be charged with a Lightning cable.
This new non-MagSafe third-generation AirPods case with a Lightning connector costs $169 in the United States, as opposed to $179 for the third-generation AirPods with a MagSafe case. Do note that this case is only now being released in the US market, and it has been on sale outside the US for a while. Apart from releasing this new case, Apple did not make any changes to the buds themselves.
The AirPods Pro, on the other hand, underwent changes, and the new AirPods Pro 2nd Gen comes with an H2 chip. The device offers better audio quality and up to twice as much active noise cancellation, upgrades to Transparency mode, a more customised spatial audio experience, a redesigned charging case with Find My Support, and a new loop to attach third-party accessory makers.
