We’re only four months away from the release of the iPhone 14 series, and leaks and rumours are at an all-time high. Popular YouTuber Unbox Therapy got his hands on the iPhone 14 Pro Max dummy units that are generally created for case makers. This gives us a peek at the design of the upcoming iPhone.
The YouTuber compared the iPhone 14 Pro Max dummy to the current iPhone 13 Pro Max model, and the new mockup is consistent with all of the leaks we’ve seen so far. The phone appears to be identical to the previous two versions, however, the largest difference is on the front. Unbox Therapy states in his video that the dummy model feels precisely like the iPhone 14 Pro Max. He adds that if you’re used to holding an iPhone 13 Pro Max, holding the 14 Pro Max shouldn’t feel any different.

The New Pill
With the new iPhone 14 series, particularly the Pro variants, Apple has removed the notch that has been present since the iPhone X. Both the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are expected to have a “pill + hole punch” cutout. The video’s dummy model sports a cutout for the selfie camera and a pill-shaped cutout next to it for the Face ID sensors. Notably, the iPhone 15 lineup is rumoured to include the “pill + hole punch” cutout.

Kuo predicts that the iPhone 15 series will be the first to have this arrangement, which could spread to other Apple products as well. According to him, Apple has been working hard to adapt to the new standard, and we may see some signs regarding this transition in future iOS versions.
