Apple released its entry-level iPhone SE (2022) last week, which is a successor to the second Generation iPhone SE. It carries similar aesthetics as the outgoing model but packs in a much more powerful and energy-efficient Apple A15 Bionic processor. The same processor also does duty in the vanilla iPhone 13. The number of GPU cores are also similar to the iPhone 13.
The second Generation iPhone SE was launched in 2020 and came with 3GB of RAM. The iPhone SE (2022) was expected to carry forward the same memory specification. However, a report suggests the iPhone SE has received a bump up of 1GB of RAM compared to its predecessor. So, it matches the 4GB RAM available in the iPhone 13 and should make multi-tasking more efficient. Expect the overall performance of the smartphone to be identical to the iPhone 13 at a lesser price tag. Let’s see what it offers.
iPhone SE (2022): Features, Specifications
The iPhone SE 2022 measures 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm and weighs just 144 grams. It flaunts a glass and metal sandwich build. The handset sports a 4.7-inch Retina IPS display with 750 x 1334 pixels resolution and 326 PPI. It can achieve maximum brightness of 625 nits and comes with a 65 percent screen-to-body ratio.
The iPhone SE (2022) is powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset based on the 5nm process, as opposed to the A13 Bionic based on the 7nm process of the iPhone SE 2. It is equipped with 4GB RAM and comes with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB internal storage options.
In the photography department, the iPhone SE 2022 gets a sole 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). There’s a modest 7MP front selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera can shoot 4K videos at 60 fps and 240 fps Slo-mo videos at 1080p.
Other noteworthy features include 5G, Gigabit LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO, IP67 water/dust resistance, stereo speakers, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and Dual SIM (nano+eSIM). Apple claims the battery can last up to 15 hours while watching videos, owing to the new chipset.
iPhone SE (2022): Price, Availability
The iPhone SE 2022 comes at a starting price of ₹43,990 for the base 64GB variant. You will have to shell out ₹48,900 for the 128GB variant and ₹58,900 for the 256GB variant. It is currently available to pre-order in India and will go on sale from March 18 in India and other regions. The handset is available in Midnight, Starlight, and Product RED colourways.
