Apple had launched the Self Service Repair program back in April for select iPhone models. Now, the company has expanded the program to include the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro notebooks powered by the M1 family of CPUs. The Apple Self Service Repair Store now offers repair guides as well as real Apple parts and equipment.
Starting tomorrow, the program will be accessible in the US. The iPhone Self Service Repair service will also be made available in other countries, starting in Europe, and for new Mac models later this year, according to a statement from Apple. More than a dozen distinct repair types, including the display, top casing with battery, and trackpad, are available for each MacBook Air and MacBook Pro model, with more to be added soon. Many of the components and tools that Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers have will be available to customers.
Visit Apple’s website if you want to read the repair manual for the product you want to fix, including a smartphone or a laptop. After that, users can head over to the Apple Self Service Repair Store and order the required hardware.
