Apple Watch 8 Line-up: Expected Features
In his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has a few more details about the upcoming Apple Watch 8 rugged model. Gurman notes, “Whether it will be called the Apple Watch Extreme, Apple Watch Max, Apple Watch Explorer Edition or the Apple Watch Pro, Apple Inc. is set to give the Apple Watch its ‘Pro’ tier.”
He adds that the higher-end Apple Watch will come as part of the iPhone maker’s plan to expand its range of offerings with Pro models. The introduction of the MacBook Pro, iPhone Pro, iPad Pro, and AirPods Pro stand testament to these plans. The new Apple Watch model will likely put an end to the Apple Watch Edition. Additionally, the Apple Watch 8 Pro is touted to compete with high-end Garmin sports watches, which offer attractive options for extreme sports enthusiasts.
We can expect the Cupertino-based company to add two more models in this year’s Apple Watch 8 Series—a standard Apple Watch 8 and a brand-new Apple Watch SE. Apple’s 2022 Watch 8 models will get an improved display while retaining the 41mm and 45mm sizes of the Apple Watch Series 7. Gurman reiterates that the new Pro and standard models will be powered by the S8 processor and feature a body temperature sensor. While the new SE also gets an S8 chip, it may not get a body temperature reader.
Apple Watch 8: Rumoured Price
Gurman speculates that the new Apple Watch SE could be priced at $279, while the regular Apple Watch Series 8 price could start at $399. Meanwhile, the Pro version of the Apple Watch 8 could cost a hefty $999, which is the starting price of an iPhone 13 Pro.
