While the iPhone 14 was one of the much-awaited products at Apple’s Far out event today, the Apple Watch Ultra also arrived with a bang, offering a brand-new design, rugged body, and better battery life. The Ultra model sports a flat screen, an updated digital crown, as well as an action button. The new button can be used to launch an app, start a new workout, and initiate more functions. Both, the digital crown as well as the new button have been designed to be used with gloves as well.
The case is made of titanium alloy instead of the usual aluminium, which makes it strong and durable. Keeping with the durability theme, the display has better shatter resistance, making it more rugged. Furthermore, the new Apple Watch Ultra comes with fitness-focused bands to match the extreme sports theme of the device.
While the newly-launched Apple Watch Series 8 models came in 41mm and 45mm sizes, the new Apple Watch Ultra sports a bigger display measuring 49mm. The screen has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. That’s two times more than what the Apple Watch Series 8 offers. The higher brightness will make the content look even clearer in harsh sunlight.
Apple Watch Ultra: Specifications, Features
The Apple Watch Ultra features a temperature sensor that will determine whether the body temperature is higher than normal. Do note that it does not show the exact readings as it only measures the skin temperature and not that of the body. This new feature can be used to track female fertility as well. It can detect changes in temperatures and tell you if you are ovulating.
Apple claims that the Ultra model comes with a battery life of 36 hours. That’s double than that of the Apple Watch Series 8. And with the low-power mode, the battery life can be extended up to 60 hours.
Additionally, the smartwatch features a night mode which will help you see the watch in the dark. It also comes with GPS with a dual-frequency solution (L1+L5) for more accurate location tracking in dense regions. Furthermore, the smartwatch gets a second speaker for a louder sound. That’s not all, the Apple Watch Ultra supports cellular as well.
The Ultra model, being a rugged smartwatch, can work in extreme hot as well as cold temperatures, ranging from -20 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. It’s equipped with an alarm that can alert people up to 600 feet away in case of an emergency. Furthermore, the device has WR100 water resistance, making it ideal for water sports.
Additionally, the Apple Watch Ultra gets ECG, enhanced sleep tracking, and heart rate monitoring features. It also comes with advanced analytics that can be used by athletes to track their progress.
Apple Watch Ultra: Price, Availability
Apple has priced the Apple Watch Ultra in India for a whopping ₹89,900. It is quite shocking to see that this smartwatch is now as expensive as a high-end smartphone. Anyway, the Apple Watch Ultra is now available for pre-order in India and it will go on sale in the country on September 23, 2022.
