Apple has released watchOS 8.4.2 update for its Apple Watches. The update was announced alongside the release of macOS Monterey 12.2.1, iOS 15.3.1 and iPadOS 15.3.1 for Apple devices. As a minor update, watchOS 8.4.2 does not bring much, but offers unspecified bug fixes and security updates for Apple Watch owners. Let’s check out the details of the watchOS 8.4.2 update.

According to the iPhone maker’s release notes for the update, the watchOS 8.4.2 offers certain bug fixes and various security updates for the wearables. The release notes, however, fail to tell us which bugs the latest update fixes. If you had been facing some issues with the previous update, we hope that they will be fixed with watchOS 8.4.2. This, sadly, is a rather vague state of affairs, as we are unsure of the bugs Apple has fixed with the latest build. In any case, it’s a welcome move and perhaps some bugs must have been fixed with it.

You can download the watchOS 8.4.2 for free via the dedicated Apple Watch app on your iPhone by heading to General > Software Update. To install the new software, your Apple Watch needs to be at least 50 percent charged. The watch needs to be placed on a charger, and it needs to be in range of the iPhone.
