Japanese audio gear brand Audio-Technica has replaced its popular ATH-M50xBT wireless headphones with the ATH-M50xBT2. As per the company, the new headphones come with a bunch of improvements such as Amazon Alexa voice assistant, multipoint Bluetooth pairing, low-latency mode, and beamforming microphones.

These headphones feature a fold-flat design with 90-degree swivelling earcups. Each earcup packs in a 45mm driver. The device has an impedance of 38 ohms with a frequency response of 15Hz – 28,000Hz. The company claims that the latest headphone retains the sonic signature of the original, which was released three years ago.
The headphones have onboard playback controls so that you don’t have to take out your phone too often. The ATH-M50xBT2 hooks up to your gadgets over Bluetooth 5.0. It takes advantage of Fast Pair technology with compatible Android handsets. It supports A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP profiles. The supported codecs are AAC, SBC, and LDAC. The headphones come with a multipoint pairing feature that enables users to connect two Bluetooth devices at once. Moreover, you also get a detachable 1.2-metre cable should you choose to go wired.
Audio-Technica has baked in low-latency mode that cuts down the AV sync issues while gaming. To improve the voice call experience, the company has thrown in a dual-microphone setup. Another neat addition is the built-in Amazon Alexa voice assistant that can be summoned with a push of a button.
The ATH-M50xBT2 delivers approximately 50 hours of battery life on a single charge. It takes around three hours to fully charge the device via the USB-Type C port. For those in a hurry can juice up the device for 10 minutes and get three hours of music playback.
Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 Price and Availability
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 wireless headphones are available for purchase in the US for $199. At this point, the Japanese company hasn’t revealed its plan for a wider release.
