CES 2022: Dell Unveils World’s Thinnest Alienware X14 And Updated X15, X17 R2 Gaming Laptops

Alongside the Alienware M15 R7 and the M17 R5, Dell also showcased the updated Alienware X15 and X17 gaming laptops at CES 2022. The X15 and X17 were launched last year and were lighter and slimmer than the previous Alienware laptops. The gaming division of Dell also showcased the Alienware X14, which is touted to be the thinnest ever 14-inch gaming laptop by any manufacturer.

Updated Alienware X15, X17 Features, Specifications

The new generation gaming laptops are now named X15 R2 and X17 R2. They sport a similar exterior design as the outgoing models. However, these get different internals. The Alienware X15 R2 can be configured with up to an Intel’s 12th Generation Alder Lake Core i9 12900H CPU coupled with GeForce RTX 30-series GPU. The Alienware X17 R2 gets an additional option of a Core i9 12900HK processor. These are equipped with the latest DDR5 RAM clocked up to 5,200 MHz with a capacity of up to 32GB. You can get up to 4TB of SSD storage option. 

In the display department, the X15 R2 comes with options of a FullHD with 165Hz or 360Hz or a QHD with a 240Hz refresh rate. The X17 R2 sports a 17.3-inch UHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate or a FullHD display with 360Hz. 

These gaming laptops are jam-packed with features such as Dolby Vision and Atmos to offer immersive audio, video, and gaming experience. The company has incorporated Alienware Cryo-tech cooling technology with an Element 31 thermal material made of Gallium-Silicone matrix. This, along with the Smart Fan control technology, ensures optimum cooling efficiency while performing heavy tasks like gaming or video rendering. 

The X15 R2 weighs 2.36 kgs, whereas the bigger X17 R2 weighs 3.09 kgs. Both are powered by an 87 Whr battery under the hood. Some noteworthy features include Wi-Fi 6, 2×2 Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.2, facial recognition, and more. These laptops run on Windows 11 Home out-of-the-box.

The X15 R2 is priced at $2,199 (approx. ₹1,63,000), while the X17 R2 will go on sale for a price of $2,299 (approx. ₹1,70,000). Both laptops will be available for purchase in a few months. 

Alienware X14 Features, Specifications

The Alienware X14 joins the X15 and 17 in the lineup and is the world’s thinnest 14-inch gaming laptop. It is just 14.5mm thick, which makes it as slim as some regular ultra-thin laptops. The laptop comes with options to choose between an Intel Core i7 12700H or a 12900H processor. It can be coupled with up to a GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. It will be equipped with up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2TB of NVMe SSD. 

The Alienware X14 will be available for purchase in a few months, for a price of $1,799 (approx. ₹1,33,333).
