DJI, a popular drone company, has finally launched its highly-anticipated DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine drones in the market. These will succeed the DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone camera that was launched in 2018, bringing some major improvements. The DJI Mavic 3 drones now carry a dual-camera setup, get longer flight time, longer transmission distance, improved flight safety systems, and much more when compared to its predecessors. Let us have a look at what the new flying bug-like camera drones have to offer.

The major highlight of the Mavic 3 is its dual-camera setup, which consists of a primary 24mm lens and a telephoto 162mm lens. The camera sensors are designed in collaboration with the popular Swedish camera brand Hasselblad.
The Mavic 3 features a professional-grade large 4/3-inch primary sensor compared to the 1-inch sensor on the Mavic 2 Pro. It is a 20MP shooter and comes with an 84-degree FoV (Field-of-View), which can be coupled with a wide-lens accessory that can take this FoV up to 108-degree. The Mavic 3 also gets a 12MP secondary telephoto lens, which comes with an aperture of F4.4 and 28x Hybrid Zoom.
The Mavic 3 can shoot 20MP still images in RAW format, which wasn’t possible in the previous iteration. The larger sensor promises more detailed images, a wider dynamic range, and lower noise in low-lit environments. In terms of videography, it trumps the Mavic 2 Pro as it can shoot videos at 5.1K 50fps instead of just 4K 30fps. Moreover, it can shoot slo-mo videos at 4K 120fps, which could entice content creators. If you get the Mavic 3 Cine Premium combo drone, it will come with Apple ProRes 422 HQ encoding support, which the vanilla Mavic 3 lacks.
The Mavic 3 drone now comes with an updated ActiveTrack 5.0 feature that allows the drone to follow the subject as it moves forward, backward, left, right, diagonally, flying alongside, and around a moving subject. The Advanced RTH feature enables the Mavic 3 to intelligently analyse factors such as wind speed to determine the shortest, safest, and power-efficient route to return to its home. The drone also uses the upgraded DJI O3+ transmission system, which enables it to reach a distance of up to 15km (FCC) or 12km (CE). The Mavic 3 packs a 5,000mAh battery that promises to deliver up to 46 minutes of flight time on a single charge, 15 minutes more than the Mavic 2 Pro.
