Popular sports network ESPN has added support for SharePlay for its iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV apps. This feature will let you enjoy watching sports with your friends through FaceTime.
SharePlay is a nifty feature that comes with the FaceTime video calling app, which allows Apple users to watching streaming content via a FaceTime call. The ESPN app update is now available for download via the App Store, with SharePlay support along with the usual bug fixes and optimizations.

Stream together with SharePlay – With SharePlay, you can stream select live sports, ESPN+ Originals, and more with friends and family on FaceTime. Try it out on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV (accessible on latest iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS 15.1 update).
Viewers in the US can now watch live and on-demand programming with up to 31 other people. To enjoy the shared experience, you will need access to either ESPN or ESPN+. Additionally, you’ll need to update to at least iOS 15.1 or iPad OS 15.1. Apple TV users will have to wait for the update later this month.
ESPN is somewhat late to the watch party with SharePlay support. Disney+ had been offering group viewing since 2020. Moreover, Apple TV Plus, MUBI, NBA, Twitch and SHOWTIME already support the SharePlay feature which was released in iOS 15.1 in November last year. Live sports are a big attraction for watch party features that the ESPN iOS app is now offering. What’s more, the sports network’s audience might even introduce it to friends via SharePlay, expanding its reach.
