Garmin has released a major upgrade to its MARQ lineup of luxury smartwatches, which could offer stiff competition to Apple’s foray into the adventure-grade luxury smartwatch segment. The latest slew of updates to the durable, high-end smartwatches includes an improved display, better battery life, and a host of new features.
Introduced back in 2019, the MARQ lineup of smartwatches look like analog timepieces with baked-in smart capabilities. They are made of hardened materials like titanium and sapphire glass, and feature an always-on reflective LCD display for extended battery life.
MARQ Athlete
This is cheapest among the MARQ smartwatches and features a vented silicone rubber strap, and functions like tracking workouts, and “training readiness” score based on recent sleep metrics and workouts. This one’s priced at $1900 (roughly ₹1,56,000).
MARQ Adventurer
This one not only looks good but is also packed with features. Bound in a leather strap or an FKM rubber hybrid strap for adventure use, the smartwatch is packed with features like TopoActive maps providing information while hiking including elevation change. The Adventurer is priced at $2100 (roughly ₹1,72,000).
MARQ Golfer
The MARQ Golfer features a green ceramic inlay and a tritone green jaguar-weave nylon strap. This one’s clearly aimed at golfers and is pre-loaded with over 42,000 maps of different golf courses around the world. The watch auto-detects the maps using GPS and provides golf-specific data including current wind data, precise distance measurements, and more. The MARQ Golfer is priced at $2,300 (roughly ₹1,89,000)
MARQ Captain
The MARQ Captain is built for water sports and includes a striped jacquard weave nylon strap built to be water resistant. It’s meant for competitive sailing and comes with built-in Regatta timer as well as alerts and alarms to notify the captain of changing tides and anchor drag. The MARQ Captain is priced at $2,200 (roughly ₹1,80,000).
MARQ Aviator
The most premium in the lineup, the MARQ Aviator features a titanium bracelet that matches the rest of the watch. This one’s designed for pilots and has features to navigate to a location or a waypoint in the worldwide aeronautical database. It can also find the shortest route to the nearest airport. The Aviator has a NEXRAD radar that gets overlaid on route maps, allowing pilots to access weather conditions. The MARQ Aviator is priced at $2,400 (roughly ₹1,97,000).
