Google has announced its plans to bring Fast Pair to Wear OS. Fast Pair functionality allows users to quickly connect their Bluetooth headphones to Android phones. A similar functionality will now be available for Wear OS watches. While there are speculations that the Fast Pair on Wear OS is meant for the upcoming Pixel Watch, a new report suggests that the tech giant will soon release the feature to Chrome OS as well.

The new feature is added for Wear OS to allow previously paired headphones to be discovered and connected to wearables. The new addition is in line with Google’s Fast Pair technology that is already available for Android phones.

Fast Pair saves paired headphones to your Google Account for easy access on other devices via a system-level notification. The feature will finally be available on Wear OS devices. The update with build number v22.24 will be rolled out to users via Google Play services. However, it is not yet available on all smartwatches.
As mentioned earlier, there is a possibility that the feature will arrive on the Pixel Watch, as the Pixel Watch page describes Fast Pair’s discovery and connectivity features mentioned by Google Play services.
With Fast Pair, it’s quick and easy to connect your earbuds, watch, and phone with each other. Pixel Buds Pro also make it simple by automatically switching audio between watches, phones, and laptops.
It is still unclear as to what UI will feature on Fast Pair for Wear OS, as Google has not yet explicitly announced the availability of Fast Pair on Wear OS. Meanwhile, the feature is reportedly coming to Chrome OS, Android/Google TV, select cars including BMW and Ford, and Matter smart home devices.
