Google India has pushed an update for Google Maps that enables you to find the Plus Codes for addresses. Google says, Plus Codes are digital addresses that provide accurate addresses for any place in the world. You can save your home address and access its Plus Code from Google Maps itself. It would be beneficial if your location doesn’t have a formal address and can be used for faster deliveries of parcels, medicines, food etc. The Plus Codes can also be shared with other people to help them find you easily.
Plus Codes are free and open-sourced and was first introduced by Google back in 2015 to locate difficult locations. Plus Codes rely on latitude and longitude coordinates and are displayed in a mix of numbers and letters.

Use your current location to save it as ‘Home’. Visit the saved list and open your ‘Home’ location. There, you will get an option to view your Plus Code. Click on it to copy the code. You can also share other locations on the map by following the same steps.
In addition to community-led efforts, we are also committed to empowering users to directly use Plus Code addresses for their daily needs. We piloted this feature in India a month ago, and are thrilled to share that over 300,000 users in India have already found their home’s address using Plus Codes. We are looking forward to expanding to more types of places, and are actively looking for opportunities to partner with e-commerce, logistics, and delivery companies, to scale up the experience to more people across the world.

The Plus Code doesn’t include any of your personal details. You can also edit or delete your home address with Plus Code at your convenience. This feature is currently available on Android only, but it is expected to be made available for iOS devices soon.
