Google has started rolling out the Android 12 May security patch to its Pixel lineup of smartphones. The latest security update highlights two critical issues and a handful of high and moderate severity vulnerabilities for the Pixel devices. The update is rolling out to the Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones with the SP2A.220505.002 build number.
If you own a Google Pixel smartphone, you can perform a software update right now by heading to System Settings to install it. You can also update manually or simply wait to receive the update OTA (Over-The-Air).
Google Pixel May 2022 Security Update
14 security issues have been resolved in the Android 12 May patch dated 2022-05-01 and 23 for 2022-05-05. Vulnerabilities range from moderate to critical. According to the company, the haptic feedback of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro has also been improved via the latest update.
Additionally, Google has promised one last Pixel 3a update by July. It’s unclear whether it will be a QPR3 or just a cumulative security update based on Android 12L.
