Google has announced that the newest redesign for Gmail is rolling out widely to all users. The new interface is based on Google’s Material Design 3 and brings together Meet, Chat, and Spaces.
Gmail’s new integrated view will be arriving for all Gmail users who have enabled Chat. The new update will offer a convenient way to switch between apps. Moreover, you can tweak the settings as per your preference via Quick Settings. This feature allows you to choose which apps you want to display on the left-hand side of the panel—be it just Gmail or any combination of Gmail, Chat, Spaces, and Meet.

Google says, “During the pandemic, we’ve seen a further evolution as tens of millions of people around the world started to move between email, messaging, group chat and video calls as a part of managing their daily lives. To help people stay connected, we’re bringing together Gmail, Chat, Spaces and Meet in a single, unified view.”
Those who are looking to stay organised can use either system labels such as Starred, Snoozed, and Important or use custom labels. Furthermore, users will be able to see a small preview of incoming messages while chatting. Users can open up the full message or utilise the quick reply feature.
This new feature will be rolled out over the course of the coming weeks. The integrated view can be enabled in Settings by selecting the new visual configuration option. Folks who are resistant to change can continue to use the original Gmail UI.
Besides the user interface, Gmail is getting some functional changes as well. Google says that it has made search easier by bringing search chips to your inbox. Moreover, the company claims that the latest update brings improved search results to Gmail.
Finally, Google promises to bring an “improved experience for tablet users”, new accessibility features, improved emojis, and more later this year.
