Honor has launched an affordable 5G smartphone called the Honor Play 40 Plus. The smartphone has launched for users in China, and features mid-range specifications including a MediaTek Dimensity 5G processor. The company also recently unveiled the Honor X40 GT in the Chinese market powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC.

Get the latest technology news, reviews, and opinions on tech products right into your inboxThe Honor Play 40 Plus runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset and is coupled with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB built-in storage. It comes with Android 12 preloaded with Honor’s MagicUI 6.1 on top.
The smartphone features a large 6.74-inch IPS LCD display with a teardrop notch at the top to house the selfie camera. The display sports a refresh rate of 90 Hz and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The display, however, is only HD+ with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.
The Honor Play 40 Plus runs on a 6000mAh battery, which the company claims can offer 23 hours of video playback on a full charge. The smartphone supports 22.5W fast charging.
The device features a 50-megapixel primary camera on the rear along with a 2-megapixel secondary camera. On the front is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
Design wise, the Honor Play 40 Plus has a slim profile with 8.27mm thickness and 196 grams weight. It features a side mounted fingerprint sensor, along with Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, USB-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Honor Play 40 Plus: Price And Availability
The Honor Play 40 Plus starts at RMB 1,199 (roughly ₹13,700) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The higher–end model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at RMB 1,599 (roughly ₹18,500). There’s also an 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant priced at RMB 1,399 (roughly ₹16,000).
The smartphone goes on sale from October 28, 2022 in China. It is already available for pre-order. The Honor Play 40 Plus can be purchased in black, blue, silver, and purple colour variants.
