Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3 in October 2021, which was followed by the first Developer Preview. According to latest reports, the stable release of Harmony OS 3.0 will be available in September this year.
The launch date was revealed by Weibo user Changan Digital King during the company’s developer innovation contest which was held recently. Chinese publication IT Home notes that we can expect a beta version to roll out in May this year. However, the launch timeline hasn’t been announced by Huawei yet.

The HarmonyOS 3 Developer Preview, which is currently available, comes with improved system architecture and facilitates multi-device usage within the same ecosystem. Huawei had also announced that the DP includes new deployment automation tools for developers. It comes with Ark UI 3.0 development framework which reportedly reduces the amount of code for cross-end applications.
In short, it offers a refined UI and better performance. However, Huwaei’s newest OS does not bring a significant overhaul to its look and feel.
The Huwaei Mate 50 will reportedly be the first device to run Harmony OS 3.0 out of the box. It’s unclear which current devices will get the latest update. We should have more details regarding the same once the first betas start rolling out in May.
