Infinix has hinted at a new rapid charging technology, which is the brand’s fastest charging speed to date and is marketed by the company under the name Thunder Charge. To recall, the company had previously shown off a 160W rapid charging prototype, but it never made it into users’ hands. In reality, companies like OnePlus and Realme have already started shipping devices that can charge at 150W. Let’s take a closer look at Infinix’s 180W Thunder Charge system, and everything we know so far.
Infinix Showcases 180W Fast Charging Capabilities
In a recent video shared by Infinix’s co-founder Benjamin Jiang, a smartphone can be spotted with rapid charging capabilities. He goes on to say that this is the company’s fastest charging capability yet. The most recent charging technology improves on the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 from a year ago, which supported a maximum of 160W charging and was advertised as having a 4,000mAh battery that could be fully charged in just 10 minutes. You can check out the video below:
While the pace of this charging technique is still unknown, given that the 160W charger could fully recharge a 4,000mAh battery in under 10 minutes, we anticipate the 180W charger will surpass that time by one or two minutes. While the 180W fast charging speed is impressive, this comes at a time when Chinese manufacturers like iQOO are rumoured to debut smartphones with 200W fast charging capabilities for the consumer, and hence Infinix appears to be lagging behind in R&D.

Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitrate (GaN) semiconductor procedures served as the foundation for the 160W charging technology. With a 120W fast charging capacity, the Infinix Note 12 VIP is the company’s fastest charging phone that is currently on sale and accessible for customer purchase.
