Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has a few more things to say about the upcoming iPhone 14. According to Kuo’s latest prediction, the four new iPhone models set to debut this year will feature front-facing cameras with autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture. To compare, iPhones typically come with fixed focus selfie cameras with f/2.2 apertures.
If the rumour turns out to be true, it will greatly improve the quality of photos and videos. A wider aperture will allow light to fall on the sensors, thereby resulting in better images during low light conditions. Additionally, this could provide better depth-of-field when using Portrait mode for photos and videos. Autofocus will be greatly beneficial in enhancing the quality of FaceTime and video calls.
Previous iPhone 14 Rumours
With the iPhone 14 reported to arrive later this year, we can expect the rumour mills to churn out more speculations about the much-awaited phone. Back in March, Kuo claimed that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could sport an A15 processor to differentiate it from the Pro models.
The Apple analyst continued to dish out even more leaks, this time pertaining to its internals. He says that all four models will pack 6GB of RAM. However, only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature LPDDR5 RAM. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will retain LPDDR4X RAM.
Coming to the display, Kuo says that the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro may sport 6.1-inch displays. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max could feature 6.7-inch displays. While the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have 120Hz ProMotion displays, the non-Pro models will come with standard 60Hz refresh rate displays.
Interestingly, multiple outlets report that Apple might discontinue the mini models of the iPhone 14 series. Instead, it will introduce a large-sized version—the iPhone 14 Max. When it comes to the design, latest leaked CAD renders revealed that the upcoming iPhone 14 could sport hole + pill camera cutouts.
