WhatsApp has been making a lot of changes recently by introducing new features, improving existing ones, and more. The instant messaging behemoth is currently working on allowing users to silently depart a group chat, instead of notifying every member of the group.
While the feature is currently under development, it will be rolling out in a future update of the app, possibly first to the beta testers. Let’s take a closer look at the new changes being introduced in WhatsApp, and everything we know of far.
You Can Soon Exit WhatsApp Groups Without The Members Noticing
According to a screenshot posted by WABetaInfo, the new feature is currently in development, and was noticed on WhatsApp’s desktop application. Once designed and implemented, a user will see a pop-up before quitting a group advising them of the change. When users are about to leave a group, the social media giant will display the notice “Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group.”
Even though the screenshot shows the feature being created for WhatsApp Desktop beta, the report claims that it will soon be available for WhatsApp beta for Android and WhatsApp beta for iOS, after which it will be disseminated to a larger user base. The application was recently updated to allow groups of up to 512 members to be created, up from 256 previously.
While this may provide an opportunity to slip away from family or office groups without being noticed, it could also help keep chat conversations clean. Meta-owned WhatsApp is also working on producing rich previews for links posted as part of a text status update. The URL will still be displayed in plaintext, but it will be complemented by a card that includes a header image, the site title, a description, and the URL.
