The new Dimensity 1300 is a successor to the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. The Dimensity 1200 SoC was a flagship chipset released by MediaTek in 2021. This chipset marked the entry of the Taiwanese company into the flagship mobile processor space, which was previously enjoyed by Qualcomm.
The Realme X7 Max and the OnePlus Nord 2 were some of the upper mid-range smartphones that came with the MediaTek 1200 SoC and performed exceedingly well in the smartphone market. However, after the advent of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor, which provided similar performance and better stability, the Dimensity 1200 lost its sheen in the market. MediaTek attempts to regain the lost ground with its new Dimensity 1300 mobile processor.
MediaTek Dimensity 1300: Features, Specifications
The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset looks like a refreshed version of the Dimensity 1200 SoC. It is built on the same 6nm fabrication process of TSMC. The octa-core CPU comprises one ultra core ARM Cortex A78 with a clock frequency of 3GHz, three super cores ARM Cortex A78 clocked at 2.6GHz, and four efficiency cores ARM Cortex A55 running at 2GHz. The graphics duty is handled by the ARM Mali-G77 MC 9 GPU, which is a nine-core GPU. The core configurations and clock speeds are exactly similar to the Dimensity 1200 SoC.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 gets the latest MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 gaming tech as opposed to the HyperEngine 3.0 on the Dimensity 1200. The HyperEngine 5.0 offers AI-VRS graphics enhancement, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Hybrid 2.0, and wireless earphones latency improvements by offering Bluetooth LE Audio technology with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio. The HyperEngine 5.0 is expected to improve the gaming experience and reduce battery consumption.
Other noteworthy features include support for Full HD+ displays with up to 168Hz refresh rate, LPDDR4x RAM up to 4266Mbps, UFS 3.1 memory support, 200MP camera with 4K video recording, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, and 5G SA/NSA, among many others.
Rumours suggest that the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 could debut with the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2T/ OnePlus Nord 3. Expect other upper mid-range smartphones from OPPO, Realme, and Xiaomi to be powered by this new chipset later.
