After a lot of rumours and speculations, Microsoft finally appears to be preparing to release its much-anticipated One Outlook app. The new Microsoft One Outlook app, codenamed “Monarch” was originally expected to arrive in the summer of 2021 in the form of a preview build, but that did not happen for reasons unknown. A new report now claims that Project Monarch is not scraped, and the app is still in active development. In fact, the launch date of its preview build has also been leaked.

Microsoft is still inclined to replace its Mail and Calendar apps, but this might not happen this year. Instead, the company will keep the Mail and Calendar apps and bring the new Microsoft One Outlook app alongside so that the users can get used to the new experience.
Microsoft has been testing Monarch/One Outlook for several months internally with increasingly large rings of employees. My sources say the company is planning to make an official announcement about One Outlook this spring. Microsoft could be ready to get a test version of the new Outlook to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels by late March or early April 2022, my contacts say. By late July or August this year, Microsoft is hoping to be able to get it to Insiders in the Slow Channel, though this target date could slip until the fall, my contacts said.

The new One Outlook client has been in the works for well over a year now. Microsoft’s goal is to unify the Outlook app experiences on the desktop with a single client. However, the app has taken longer than expected. That being said, things appear to be moving in the right direction, and we are finally getting closer to the first preview release of One Outlook.
The app will reportedly roll out first to Dev and Beta channel Insiders in March or April 2022, and will make its way to the Insider Slow Channel sometime this summer.
