Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Brings High-Refresh Rate Display, Intel 11th Gen. CPUs, Thunderbolt 4

Microsoft announced a lot of products during its Fall 2021 event. It includes the Surface Laptop Studio, Surface Pro X (Wi-Fi Only), Surface Go 3, Surface Pro 8, and the Surface Duo 2. All the new laptops from the company are 2-in-1 convertibles, and the company’s first convertible was the Surface Pro. Yesterday, the company released the eight-generation Surface Pro, and it brings some significant improvements over its predecessor. The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 has a better display with a high refresh rate, a faster processor, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Specifications

The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 features a 13-inch PixelSense IPS LCD display with a 2,880 x 1,920 pixels resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate (60Hz by default), 10-point capacitive multitouch, and support for Dolby Vision. It is equipped with a 5MP front-facing camera that can record 1080p videos and has Windows Hello authentication. It has a 10MP rear-facing camera with autofocus and 4K video recording. It has dual far-field microphones and 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

The 2-in-1 convertible laptop has two quad-core CPU options: 11th Gen. Intel Core i5-1135G7 and 11th Gen. Intel Core i7-1185G7. Both CPUs feature Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. It has 8GB/16GB/32GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB SSD storage. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a Surface Connect port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is compatible with the Surface Pen, Surface Slim Pen 2, and the Surface Dial.

A 51.5Whr battery powers the Surface Pro 8, and Microsoft claims that the device can last up to 16 hours on a single charge. The device is built using anodised aluminium. It has an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and magnetometer. Of course, the Surface Pro 8 comes pre-loaded with Windows 11. It has a firmware TPM chip and features enterprise-grade security with BitLocker support. The device weighs 889g and measures 287 x 208 x 9.3mm. It comes in two colour variants: Graphite and Platinum.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Price, Availability

The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 price is $1,100 for the variant with the Intel Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage in the US. However, if you really want to get some work done, you may have to spend $180 for the Surface Pro Signature Keyboard Cover and $130 for the Surface Slim Pen 2 ($280 if you buy both accessories). There is no information on when (or if) Microsoft would launch the Surface Pro 8 in India.
