Motorola seems to be focussing on its ‘G’ series of smartphones more than ever. The Moto G82 is lined up for launch in India, the Moto G62 budget 5G smartphone is in the works, and now the Moto G42 has been spotted. It will be a mid-range offering from the Lenovo-owned company and thanks to folks over at Gizpaw, we now have an idea about its specifications. The device was also spotted on Geekbench and the FCC certification website earlier.
Motorola Moto G42: Features, Specifications (Rumoured)
The Motorola Moto G42 comes with a design that is similar to some other models from the company. It is built to be a budget mid-range smartphone, so don’t expect it to feature a premium metal and glass build. The device gets a vertical rectangular camera island housing the triple rear cameras and LED flash. It will sport a 6.4-inch OLED display with Full HD+ display resolution. Going by the renders, it will get a centrally placed punch-hole camera cutout on the display. The bezels surrounding the screen are fairly slim but gets a relatively thicker chin.
The Moto G42 will be powered by a Snapdragon 680 chipset, which is a 4G enabled processor. The same chipset also does duty in devices such as the Redmi Note 11, Oppo K10, Vivo T1 44W, Realme 9i, and more. It will be equipped with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If the report is to be believed, it will be offered in a single variant. Its memory can be expanded further via the microSD card slot.

It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Selfie duties and video calling will be handled by the 13MP front-facing snapper.
Some other noteworthy features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Most likely it will miss the 3.5mm audio jack. The handset will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery and will come with an 18W charging support. The Moto G42 is expected to run on Android 12 OS out of the box.
