Motorola Moto G 5G 2022 Appears Ahead Of Official Launch

Along with the images of the upcoming Motorola Edge 30 smartphone, Evan Blass has leaked the pictures of the Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) via 91Mobiles. Motorola appears to be on the offensive as it is reported to launch at least 19 smartphones in 2022. The Moto G 5G (2022) will be a mid-range device as it has always been for almost a decade since its inception. The updated Moto G will provide 5G at affordable prices and Motorola will expect it to be a volume seller, especially in emerging markets.

Motorola has a knack for developing a family design for all its smartphones, which was seen when it introduced a circular camera design for its smartphones a couple of years back. Glad that they replaced that horrendous design with the new vertical camera island design, which is pleasing to the eye. However, all its latest smartphones look identical with little or no differences. The Moto G 5G (2022) is no different, as it gets the same rear design with triple cameras and a Motorola logo at the centre. 

The smartphone is codenamed “Austin” and will sport a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate. There’s a centrally placed hole-punch camera cutout at the front with a relatively thick bezel chin at the bottom. The handset is powered by a 5G capable MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, which is an octa-core CPU comprising two ARM Cortex A76 cores and six ARM Cortex A55 efficiency cores. It will come in 4GB and 6GB RAM options. The base model will be equipped with 64GB of internal memory, while the range-topping one is expected to get 256GB of storage. 

The triple camera setup at the rear comes with a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. Safe to say that it will come with a single usable camera. For selfie duties, it comes with a 13MP shooter housed in the punch hole cutout on the display. The handset will come with splash protection and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery under its hood coupled with a slow 15-watt charging support.
