Motorola built a conventional looking clamshell smartphone with a foldable screen in 2020, the Motorola Razr (2019). Now, the brand is gearing up to launch its new Motorola Razr 2022 codenamed “Maven” soon. Rumours suggest that the company may call it the Motorola Razr 3. A couple of leaked images and a video give us an idea about the design of this new device. It’s not a nip and tuck job but a completely revised design and will go against the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 in the market.
Let’s have a look at its design and specifications below.
Motorola Razr 3: Design, Features
A short video clip of the new Motorola foldable device by popular tipster Evan Blass reveals some key aspects of the upcoming handset. For starters, the bottom chin is gone, and it will have a slim bottom bezel just like Samsung’s Flip foldable devices. We can see the working of the inner display when it’s folded and unfolded in the video. There’s a centrally placed hole-punch camera cutout at the top of the display, which is quite pleasing to the eye. The bezels and the display crease are minimal in this iteration.
According to the tipster, the design is boxier and gets squared-off edges compared to its predecessor, which is also evident in the pictures. At this point, there’s not much information about the type of hinge used in the Motorola Razr 3. The reduced display crease could mean that Motorola has employed a tweaked hinge mechanism or a completely new hinge altogether.

The Moto Razr 3 gets dual cameras comprising a primary 50MP sensor and a 13MP macro sensor. For selfie aficionados, there’s a 32MP snapper on the inner screen.
The latest foldable device by Motorola is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is built on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process. The handset will come in Quartz Black and Tranquil Blue colourways. It is expected to launch in China in late July or early August 2022.
