NVIDIA has unveiled the new GeForce RTX 2050, GeForce MX550 and GeForce MX570 laptop GPUs. These GPUs will be used to power entry-level gaming laptops that will be launched in Spring 2022.
Let’s have a closer look at the GeForce GPUs.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 is fully RTX enabled and based on the Ampere architecture, the GA107, to be specific. That’s the same GPU used in the RTX 3050 series. The chip crunch seems to have driven NVIDIA to salvage every Ampere chip they can, fabricated on Samsung’s 8nm process.
This is the fastest processor in the line-up and comes with 2048 CUDA cores, which is the same as the RTX 3050. It features NVIDIA DLSS, Reflex, and Broadcast, and NVIDIA Encoder for ray tracing. The company claims that the RTX 2050 will strike a balance between long battery life and optimum performance with its NVIDIA Optimus technology.
NVIDIA GeForce MX570
The NVIDIA GeForce MX570 is also based on the Ampere architecture. It is touted as the fastest processor in NVIDIA’s MX GPU series. It comes equipped with more power-efficient CUDA Cores and faster memory speeds, when compared to its predecessor. It is fabricated on Samsung’s 8nm process.
NVIDIA GeForce MX550
The NVIDIA GeForce MX550 comes with more CUDA Cores and faster memory speeds than its predecessor, the GeForce MX450. Unlike the RTX 2050 and the MX570, the MX550 is based on the Turing architecture. It uses TSMC’s 12nm manufacturing process.
Availability
We might see entry-level gaming laptops that are powered by these GPUs launched in Spring 2022. Expect some more details about these laptops to emerge at CES 2022.
