Such designs are pretty common in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, but the Okhi-90 will be the first electric scooter in India to adorn such a design. The e-scooter comes with large 16-inch front wheels with alloy wheels at both ends. Most scooters in India come with puny 12-inch front wheels, which are awful when going through rough patches.
The Okinawa Okhi-90 gets long-travel telescopic forks at the front, in addition to the large wheels, which should allow it to absorb bumps and undulations more effectively. Also, it gets dual shock absorbers at the rear, which should perform better than the single shock absorbers found on most scooters in India. Thus, making it a comfortable electric scooter for both urban and rural riding. Okinawa says that the Okhi-90 recently completed the journey from Gurugram to Khadung-La in Leh Ladakh in 10 days.
The Okinawa Okhi-90 gets LED headlights and DRLs at the front and an LED tail-lamp, which enhances its appeal and might remind you of the LED tail-lamp of the Aprilia SXR 160. The scooter also gets a grab rail with a top plate at the rear to allow you to mount a top box for your luggage. The floorboard is flat and decently sized. The company says the vehicle comes with 40 litres of boot space and dual hooks at the front to tether your luggage. There’s even a glovebox at the front that can store your mobile phone with ease.
The Okinawa Okhi-90 is powered by a centrally mounted 3800-watt motor that drives the rear wheel via a belt. This allows it to reach a maximum speed of 80 km/hr to 90 km/hr in under 10 seconds in Sport mode. Eco mode restricts the speed to around 60 km/hr. The electric scooter comes with a removable 3.6kWH IP65 rated Lithium-ion battery which is placed in the boot. The company claims it can deliver up to 160 kilometres of driving range in Eco mode on a single charge. The battery can charge up to 80 percent in about an hour. However, to charge it fully can take around four hours. The battery is backed by a three-year warranty.
The Okinawa Okhi-90 comes loaded with connected features such as Geo-Fencing, music control, battery status, Find My Vehicle, trip history, driver score, speeding alerts, and much more. Some other interesting bits of the scooter include an aluminium swingarm, chrome rearview mirrors, LED key surround, disc brakes at both front and rear, boot light, keyless start, parking mode, Eco/Sport modes, USB port for charging, among many other features.
