OnePlus introduced its OnePlus Ace smartphone in China in April 2022, which later went on to become the OnePlus 10R in the Indian market. Now, the company is gearing up to launch a OnePlus Ace Racing Edition for the Chinese market. This will be a watered-down version of the OnePlus Ace and you can expect it to come with some compromises in the build, camera, and display departments.
The device was recently spotted on China’s certification website TENAA. 91mobiles has managed to lay its hands on the rear panel picture of the handset. Going by the image, the rear design resembles the OnePlus 10R more than the OnePlus Ace, on which it is based on. The flex on the rear panel suggests it is made out of polycarbonate. The device will come with an LCD display as opposed to the AMOLED panel of the OnePlus Ace/OnePlus 10R. Noted leakster Digital Chat Station says that the device will be powered by a Dimensity series processor.
OnePlus Ace Racing Edition: Specifications (Rumoured)
The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition is expected to sport a 6.59-inch Full HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. It will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 as opposed to the Dimensity 8100-Max of the OnePlus Ace/OnePlus 10R. It could be equipped with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In terms of imaging, it swaps the 50MP OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) camera for a 64MP sensor with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation). The ancillary cameras include an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfie duties, it may come with a 16MP front-facing shooter.
Other noteworthy features include 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, dual SIM, physical fingerprint sensor, and USB Type-C, among other features. It could be powered by a 5,000mAh battery under its hood and is likely to miss the 150W fast charging tech of the OnePlus Ace to keep costs low.
OnePlus Ace Racing Edition: Price, Availability
The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition is likely to launch this month. However, it might not launch in India. Expect the prices to start much lower than the OnePlus Ace’s launch price of CNY 2,499 (roughly ₹29,500) in China. Apart from the grey colour in the images, it might come in blue and green colour options.
