The OnePlus Nord 2 is finally getting updated to Android 12 in India. The device was launched back in 2021 and came with Android 11 out of the box. Although an Open Beta version, users will finally get to taste the goodness of the Android 12 OS. OnePlus says some features of the Nord 2 Pac-Man Edition may not work after updating. So, if you have this special edition handset, you may want to skip this update. Bear in mind that the Open Beta 1 update is meant only for OnePlus Nord 2 users in India.
How To Update OnePlus Nord 2 To Android 12
- Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from here.
- Now, copy the downloaded file to the phone storage.
- Power off the phone by pressing the Power button and Volume Down button for 10 seconds at the same time .
- Once it boots, choose language to enter the Recovery mode > Click Install from Storage > Click on the corresponding installation package > upgrade > System upgrade completed to 100%.
- Once the update process is complete, click on Restart. This should successfully update your OnePlus Nord 2 to Android 12.

The “Smart Battery Engine” feature with the help of AI will extend the battery backup of the handset. Dark mode will now come with three adjustable levels. Some other noteworthy features include improved app icons, new style cards, Work-Life Balance features, a tweaked gallery, Canvas AOD, and HyberBoost for frame rate stabilisation during gaming.

- Newly added access to OnePlus Scout in Shelf, allowing you to search multiple contents on your phone, including Apps, Settings, Media Data, etc.
- Newly added OnePlus Watch Card in Shelf, to easily glance at your health status.
Work-Life Balance
- The Work-Life Balance feature is now available to all users, allowing you to effortlessly switch between Work and Life mode via quick settings.
- WLB 2.0 now supports automatic Work/Life mode switching, based on specific locations, Wi-Fi network, and time, also bringing customized App notification profiles according to the personalization.
Gallery
- Gallery now allows you to switch between different layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently recognizing the best-quality pictures, and cropping the thumbnail based on the content, making the gallery layout more pleasing.
Canvas AOD
- Canvas AOD brings you new diverse styles of lines and colours, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring visuals.
- Optimized software algorithm and improved face recognition to better identify the features and skin colour of different figures.
Games
- Newly added the HyperBoost end-to-end frame rate stabilizer.
Known issues
- You might be unable to use Face Unlock in the dark after turning on Brighten screen in dim light through Settings.
- Fortnite will crash when playing the game.
