The brand is calling this release a “Trial Version”, suggesting it might release an update patch later to fix initial bugs. Oppo F17 users in India and Oppo A73 4G users in Vietnam need to be on the firmware C.19 to receive the latest update F.09. Users of these devices from other regions will be notified via the official Oppo community channel.
If your device is eligible for the update, just navigate to Settings > Software Update > Gear icon and apply for the trial version. Once approved, you will receive the Color OS 12 stable update via an OTA update. The update will be rolling out in batches, as stated earlier. So, if the list is full you might have to wait for the next round.
Oppo has listed some pointers for users before proceeding with the update:
- Perform a backup of your data as it’s a major OS update and it might wipe your data due to incompatibility or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Once the update is complete, the operating system will initiate several actions to optimise your device automatically. This could lead to your handset heating, lagging, or the battery draining rapidly. It is advisable to turn off the screen and charge your device for a whole night after the update is installed successfully.
- Some third-party applications are not compatible with Android 12. Installing such applications may lead to some technical issues such as lagging and crashing of the device.
