Oppo has officially confirmed that its new generation of Oppo Watch will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. The Oppo Watch 3 will be a successor to the Oppo Watch 2, which was launched back in 2021. Oppo’s Associate Vice President and President of IoT Business, Franco Li, refers to the Oppo Watch 3 as a series, implying there will be multiple models in the lineup.
The new Oppo Watch 3 will debut the latest Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, which is the major talking point of this smartwatch. The new chipset is built on the 4nm process and promises to offer two times better performance using half as much power as the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform. The chipset comprises four Arm Cortex-A53 cores and one Cortex-M55 core clocked at 250MHz, coupled with an Adreno 702 GPU clocked at 1GHz. Furthermore, it will be equipped with faster LPDDR4 RAM clocked at 2133MHz, compared to the LPDDR3 RAM of the Snapdragon 4100+ chipset.
Oppo Watch 3: Specifications (Rumoured)
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, from Oppo’s home country, China, the Oppo Watch 3 series will comprise three different models. They will bear the model numbers OWW211, OWW212, and OWW213. He states that the Oppo watches will come with minimum bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio. They will flaunt a “micro arc square dial design”. The smartwatches will come in black, silver, dark grey, and light gold colour options.
The leakster expects Oppo to launch its new Oppo Watch 3 series of smartwatches in the second half of 2022. Mobvoi will also be unveiling its next generation of TicWatch smartwatch, which will be the first to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chipset.
