Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon W5 and W5+ wearable chipsets, and we already know that the Oppo Watch 3 series will be among the first smartwatches to use Qualcomm chipsets. The brand has now formally announced that the Watch 3 series will be released publicly on August 10, 2022 at 7 p.m. (local time) in China. The OPPO Zhimei Life Smart Camera will also be unveiled at the event.
Let’s take a closer look at the Oppo Watch 3 series specifications, features, and everything we know so far.
Oppo Watch 3 Series Launch Date Confirmed
The Oppo Watch 3 series is said to comprise at least three models, and we know at least one of them will be powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. This might imply that Oppo will be the first manufacturer to release a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1-powered wristwatch. The upcoming Oppo Watch 3 is said to include a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) display with an adaptive refresh rate and ECG monitoring functionality. The new model will succeed the Oppo Watch 2 launched last year.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series is likely to be unveiled on August 10 at the Unpacked event. There may be four colour options for the Watch 3— black, silver, dark grey, and light gold. The smartwatch is rumoured to have a heart-rate monitor, ECG, SpO2 tracker, NFC, and e-SIM compatibility, as well as 5ATM water resistance.
We can spot the rotating crown of the OPPO Watch 3 in the poster. Images of the smartwatch that have leaked on Weibo in recent days show that it will have a curved AMOLED display and a leather band. It is unclear if Oppo will launch the smartwatch internationally or whether it will be limited to China. More information regarding the Oppo Watch 3 series should be available in the coming days.
