Last year, Sony took the wraps off its latest generation gaming console, the Sony PlayStation 5. Ever since its release, many fans have been speculating about the launch of the Pro variant—the PlayStation 5 Pro. Sony launched the PlayStation 4 Pro three years after the launch of its vanilla counterpart, so if the brand’s history is anything to go by, we can expect the development of the PlayStation 5 Pro to begin shortly.
As it turns out, the prediction came true, as rumours surrounding the development of the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro have started popping up on the internet. According to a new report, AMD has begun hiring for the development of its next-gen RDNA family graphics chipset, which will likely be based on the Zen 3 architecture. This means that AMD is working on its Zen 3 architecture-based chipsets for the upcoming gaming consoles, and the PlayStation 5 Pro could most likely be one of them.
PlayStation 5 Pro Development Has Reportedly Begun
According to a job listing posted by AMD on LinkedIn, AMD is looking to hire a “System-on-Chip verification engineer” for its next generation chipset. The listing reads, “We are currently looking for a System-on-Chip Verification Engineer who will be part of a team working on the next generation of a complex SOC design. The job listing confirms that AMD is working on the next generation chipset, which will power the upcoming Sony PlayStation 5 Pro and/or a new version of Microsoft’s flagship Xbox Series X console. However, it is still too early to confirm any of this information, so it is best to take things with a grain of salt until the brand confirms the same. As for the launch date, we can expect the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro to hit the shelves sometime during 2024 or 2025.
