Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Semicon India 2022 Conference on April 29, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced on Monday. Semicon India 2022 will be held at Bengaluru as a three-day conference. The conference aims to propel the idea of making India a global leader when it comes to the fields of electronics manufacturing, semiconductor design, and innovation.

Chandrasekhar said that the Ministry will be signing various Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to form partnerships and alliances in the semiconductor space during the Bengaluru conference.
The Semicon India 2022 Conference will be conducted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology from April 29 to May 1 at the ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru. The theme of this year’s event is “Design and Manufacture in India, for the World: Making India a ‘Semiconductor Nation’”.
Global experts from industry and academia from the semiconductor design and manufacturing space, along with key representatives from the government will be participating in the Semicon India 2022. Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Indo-Us venture partners founder Vinod Dham, Cadence CEO Anirudh Devgan, and SEMI President Ajit Manocha will be some of the participants gracing the conference.
India Semiconductor Mission
The press release states that “India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has been set up as an Independent Business Division within Digital India Corporation having administrative and financial autonomy to formulate and drive India’s long-term strategies for developing semiconductors and display manufacturing facilities and semiconductor design ecosystem”. Furthermore, it adds that ISM will serve as the “nodal agency for efficient, coherent and smooth implementation of the schemes”.
