Qualcomm has announced two new wireless audio platforms with support for Snapdragon Sound—the S5 Sound Platform and S3 Sound Platform. These new platforms are touted to be ultra-low power and pack various new features.

This technology launched last year and promised an enhanced wireless audio experience.
Qualcomm S3 and S5 Sound Platform Features
The S5 and S3 audio platforms merge Bluetooth and the low-energy (LE) audio technology to greatly enhance audio quality. Its Bluetooth LE audio allows you to broadcast to innumerable devices. Moreover, it offers security during audio sharing.

James Chapman, vice president and general manager, Voice, Music and Wearables, Qualcomm Technologies, said in a statement:
We can deliver the ultimate wireless sound experience Utilizing Snapdragon® 8 mobile platform, Qualcomm® FastConnect™ 6900 and newly announced 7800 subsystem and Snapdragon Sound™ technology. For example, in addition to being the first to deliver Lossless audio, we’ve added ultra-low latency gaming mode with in-game chat, and the ability for earbuds to record content in stereo sound which will add huge value for a new generation of creators.
Chapman added that the company has also integrated Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation in a separate hardware block to substantially improve noise cancellation capability. The latest Snapdragon Sound technology offers lossless audio, stereo recording through earbuds. Additionally, it promises 25 percent lower latency for gaming, when compared to previous generations.
Qualcomm S3 and S5 Sound Platform Availability
Xiaomi and iQOO are the first smartphone brands to integrate the latest S3 and S5 sound platforms into their phones. The Xiaomi 12 series and iQOO 9 smartphones could likely get the S5 and S3 SoCs.
Qualcomm states that customers are already sampling the S5 and S3 Sound platforms, and the commercial versions will be made available to customers in the second half of this year.
