At the launch of the Realme GT 2 and Realme GT 2 Pro, Realme had revealed that the phones launched with Android 12 would receive three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates. However, it wasn’t known how many updates would be offered for the Realme GT 5G.
Realme CEO Madhav Sheth, in a recent episode of his YouTube series, “AskMadhav” has confirmed the details regarding the software updates for the Realme GT 5G. The smartphone which was launched with Android 11 in 2021 will get the same treatment in terms of Android updates as that of other Realme phones.
Realme GT 5G To Get Android OS Updates For 3 Years
Realme usually offers up to two years of Android OS updates for its flagship phones. However, the brand will provide three years of Android updates and four years of security patches for the Realme GT 5G.

The device features a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, an octa-core Snapdragon 888 processor, up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage, a 64MP rear-facing camera, and an 8MP selfie camera. The smartphone comes with 5G support, an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 4,500mAh battery which supports 65W Super Dart Flash charging.
In a piece of related news, Madhav Sheth in his recent YouTube series “AskMadhav” also revealed that the company will launch the Realme Neo 3T in India sometime later this month. The exact date of the same will be announced soon by the company. Additionally, Sheth disclosed that Realme is planning to launch more 5G smartphones in India soon. According to Sheth, the ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 bracket is a key segment and the brand plans to launch a new 5G device in the same price range.
