The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 was launched in India a couple of years ago. The device was extremely popular across the globe and over 25 million units of the device were sold within 20 months of its launch. The Redmi Note 8 came running Android 9.0 out of the box, and then it received the Android 10 update in November 2020. The Chinese firm then started rolling out the Android 11 update to the smartphone in February 2021. However, even after 9 months of releasing the Android 11 update in China, Indian users are still waiting for it to arrive on their Redmi Note 8. Now, it seems like Indian Redmi Note 8 owners won’t have to wait for long to finally get the Android 11 update.
XiaoMIUI, a Xiaomi-focused technology blog, claims that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update is ready for the Indian market, and we can expect the Chinese firm to start rolling out the update any day now.

Indonesian Redmi Note 8 users received the Android 11 update in October 2021. Xiaomi has rolled out the Android 11 update for Redmi Note 8 handset in all the important regions except India, which is quite disappointing. The new report finally brings some sigh of relief that the Android 11-based MIUI 12.0.1.0.RCOINXM update is ready for Redmi Note 8 units in India.
Folks over at XiaoMIUI also claim that the update will just bring an updated Android security patch and the Android 11 OS to the smartphone. If true, it would be very disappointing for Redmi Note 8 users as they will have to wait again for MIUI 12.5 and MIUI 12.5 Enhanced updates to actually get new features.
To the unaware, a bunch of Redmi Note models have already received the MIUI 12.5 update. In fact, some Redmi Note models have also been updated to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced version. MIUI 12.5 comes with several new features such as Atomized Memory, Liquid Storage, and Smart Balance. It brings new algorithms and allows users to uninstall select system apps. The Android 11 update will be the last Android OS update for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. However, we can expect Xiaomi to upgrade Redmi Note 8 to MIUI 13 sometime next year.
