Asus has introduced its ROG Swift gaming monitor, which is advertised as the world’s first esports gaming monitor with a mind-boggling 500Hz screen refresh rate. The gaming industry and e-sports are expected to grow tremendously by 2027, and Asus’ ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand sees this as an opportunity to take a significant chunk of the market by introducing such innovative products.
After taking the wraps off the ROG Swift 500Hz gaming monitor, Display Product Manager for ASUS Gavin Tsai said, “When we introduced the first 144 Hz monitor in 2012, people said the human eye can only perceive 60 frames per second. Then, when we introduced our 240 Hz monitor, they said that humans can’t perceive the difference. Today, in a market where 144 Hz and 240 Hz gaming monitors are common and standard specs, we are breaking entirely new ground with the incredibly fast ROG Swift 500Hz.”
ROG Swift 500Hz: Features, Specifications
The ROG Swift 500Hz gaming monitor is built to provide a super-smooth gaming experience. The content on the screen can refresh eight times faster than standard 60Hz monitors. It sports a 24.1-inch Full HD 1080p display. Asus has used an E-TN (E-Sports TN) panel for this monitor, which the brand claims to be an improved version of the regular TN panels.
The gaming monitor packs in an “Esports Vibrance” mode, which allows light to pass through the LCD crystals to enhance the colour output. Nvidia’s G-SYNC feature reduces screen tearing, display stutter, and input lag. Furthermore, the Nvidia Reflex Analyzer allows gamers to measure latency conveniently while playing. The features are said to work with popular titles such as Valorant, CS: GO, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, and Rainbow Six Siege.
